Confused between armature/rotor? (1 Viewer)

Can someone clarify to me what exactly the armature refers to? it is not a component of a DC motor, but it seems to refer to a set of components (iron core and axle?)? Is that the thing that the wires are wrapped around that rotates when a force is applied to them?

Armature is what you wind the coil on while rotor is the rotating part including the coil and armature
