i am geussing its done by parts but ?? i dont know

its number 40. page 180

the inergral of :

this one isnt too tricky - just use substitution and partial fractions

let u = x+1
x = u-1
du=dx

u end up with integral(3u-1) / [ (u-1)(u3) ] du

use partial fractions

u end up with integral (2/(u-1)) + (-2u^2-2u+1)/(u3) du

then u get 2ln|u-1| -2ln|u| + 2/u -1/(2u2) + C

so answer is 2ln|x| -2ln|1+x| + 2/(1+x) - (1/2)(1+x)2 + C

partial fractions more complicated

subsitution is more straight forward and less mistakes

what's the title of the book that the 100 integrations come from? the 4u supplement doesn't have that.
