I really dig the more alternative side of country like Steve Earl, Buddy and Julie Miller and Bruce Robinson. Marty Stuart is cool, his album 'The Pilgrim' is one of the best concept albums I've ever listened to. I like a lot of bluegrass artists too like Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Dan Tyminksi and Del McCoury band.
