why do some courses have the same codes? all the combined law degrees (commerce/law, engineering/law etc) have the same code and also the commerce combined degrees.

The combined law degrees are treated as the same thing for admissions purposes. Only during enrolment do you specify what combination you are doing. i.e You apply for Combined Law, then during enrolment specify you are doing say Commerce/Law.

Yep. They account for the demand of different streams and adjust the cut-off accordingly so if you are accepted, you've made it 100%
