is there a big difference between engineering and science at uni
Yay, first post!
Engineering and Science share the common foundation of Mathematics, beyond which they will go in two different directions. With Science, you will be asked to specialise in a field, such as Biology or Chemistry and you will have a number of subjects that will focus on these exclusively beyond 2nd year, as well as some more general ones, such as Science, Technology and Society or Computing.
There's no degree, however that can be called Engineering. There's ME (Microelectronic) Engineering, Software Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, yadda, yadda. If you do Software or MEE you will only do Maths together with the Science students, which is however also true if you do an Engineering derivative. There's no overlap, except for Maths for the first few years between Science and Engineering, even if you do a Physics major. Contrast Fluid Mechanics or Structural Design with Electromagnetism or Thermodynamics.
Double Degrees with Engineering are rare and tough and I'd never recommend it, especially when combined with any Science Major.
So, in short, they both do Maths, but everything else is different.
