You take subjects for credit points, at MQ easier subjects at 100 level are generally worth less credit points (3) than more difficult subjects at 200/300 level (usually worth about 4). You get the credit points if you pass the subject, if you fail, you do not. You must accumulate a particular amount of credit points at different difficulties at complete the degree, eg. my degree requires 96 credit points.

GPA=Grade point Average. It measures how well you are doing at uni according to the marks you are receiving, F,CP, P, C, D, HD. Someone else may want to give you a more detailed explanation of this.

RE: GPA and credit points the more credit points a subject is weighted the more it contributes to your GPA.

A standard way to measure GPA is about 7=HD (85%), 6=D (75%), 5=Credit (65%) 4=Pass (50%)not sure about conceded pass/fail.

And note if you get say 74% you don't get a GPA of 5.92 you get 5...which can be annoying.

So you just list the grades you get from 1-7 and take an average. (Some unis, like MQ are different as it's between 1-4, but you can convert it to the 1-7 scale)

There are tables to compare GPA to UAI in the transfer forum. Then compare the GPA/UAI conversion to the existing UAI cut offs, and it will be an indication whether you are competitive or not to transferexternally. (At some unis, well at least MQ, it is much easier to transfer internally - they publish their own GPAs requiredon the MQ website)
