Can anyone suggest any specific short stories for crime fiction? I was thinking about using Dorothy L Sayers' "The Piscatorial Farce of the Stolen Stomach' but i don't think there are strong traces of the conventions of this genre (e.g. the investigation- unravelling of events, detailed and plausible setting...). Please list any short stories that you think may be relevant, i'm desperate!!! :p

Try Lord Arthur Savile's Crime by Oscar Wilde. It is like Real Inspector hound in that it is a satire of the conventions. Also, Edgar Allen Poe's The Murders in the Rue Morgue, which is often cited as the first crime fiction piece- it presents almost as a fully formed piece with conventions which we recognise today.
