Jonathan A said:Its in relation to the proceedures of criminal law through our court system. Law can be classified as Procedural and Substantive.
Substantive law is the 'black letter law' tells us if we have liabilities, if we have committed an offence, etc... E.g. Torts Law, Contract Law
Procedural Law is the law of how to go about it. E.g. Law of Evidence
With this in mind:
The Crimes Act is the substantive Law
The Criminal Procedure Act is the procedural law. You should look through it, it has some interesting areas. Do note that evidence law is covered under the uniform Evidence Act of the Commonwealth.
