umm so i have to build a generator but my understanding of it is very poor and when i look at the explanation from the textbook i don't seem to get much out of it

i know that a DC generator converts [FONT=&quot][/FONT]mechanical energy * [FONT=&quot]-> electrical energy. The coil rotates because of the magnetic field and [/FONT]the current is induced in the coil. [FONT=&quot]However, I don't know how to predict the direction that the coil rotates and why does it spin. Will the direction of current affected by the generator terminals??

yes, the direction affects the polarity.... to know which way the postive charge flows, use the FBI gun or the Right hand palm rule... the thum reps the driection of the wire. fingers, the direction of the B field and ur palm forces the postive charge along the coil in that direction... the end where u are pushing the +ve charge is going to be the +ve terminal
