you always have to link everything in journeys (this is journeys right? please tell me if it's not!) the techniques should tell how it is your particular type of journey (physical, inner or imaginative), so once you've established that it is a particular journey through techniques, you're automatically linking it since they are the same type of journey... does that make any sense?
basically use techniques to describe how they are the same type of journey, and you can link it by saying something like "the subdued meandering of Huck on his physical journey down the river is in contrast to the hazardous trek through bleak mountain ranges in Himalaya..." make sure that you have a linking sentence between the paragraphs and texts.

i hear wat ur saying, and yes its 4 journey, but wat i cant understand is how u can link the techniques used in a poem to those used in a film 4 example. i can link the concepts of the journey for these different texts, but how can i link the technques when they r different text types???

sorry if i sound dumb ... i was dropped on da head as a baby

thanks

you don't specifically have to link the techniques... link the concepts and use the rubric, make sure your texts are explored well and examine the journey and the impacts of it upon both the personas and the responders. you don't have to say the techniques are the same for both your texts - that's really stupid and if your teacher is saying they do have to be the same. i sincerely doubt that would be the case. if you're not happy with it, get another teacher to check your essay and ask what they think, ask them what you're doing wrong. It's kinda hard to tell what the teacher means without reading your essay.
best of luck!

I think you have to link the texts through HOW they explore the journey, not necessarily the techniques. I'm guessing you do Immigrant Chronicle...so you would say, in Postcard, the poet is reflecting upon the effects of the physical journey, which has been cultural and personal displacement, and a loss of identity. Similarly, in (insert supplementary text) explores this concept, through its lighting/symbolism/whatever.

anytime you see the directive 'How' in a question, answer by speaking about techniques.
you can link texts through techniques in two main ways:
1. Link the meaning expressed by the composer via various techniques. ie, establish a common idea of the meaning of the journey in your texts and then show how the composer creates that meaning with his/her use of techniques; or
2. Compare and contrast the techniques and the meanings they convey in various texts. ie, pick techniques that are common to at least two of your texts then show how the composers have used that technique, perhaps in conjunction with others individual to the particular text, to convey differing ideas on the meaning of journey. this works especially well with extended conceits and metaphors and symbolism and motifs. ummm, like two composers might use repetition of description of a setting and rising sun - but one uses it to show journeys in a positive light (opportunity for rebirth, rejuvenation etc.) whilst the other composer might use it to show journeys in a negative light (nihilistic etc. no matter what you do or what choices you make your journey has been pointless as it affected nothing etc.)

hope that helped at all, though i seriously doubt it...ah well.
