Do we add the standard solution to the burette or the conical flask? (1 Viewer)

I'm not so sure myself, but I think that it's added to the burette since it allows you to accurately read off the titre + you know it's conc/volume. But I've been hearing that the standard solution is actually meant to be added to the conical flask. But I don't get why, so could someone help me with what's meant to go where with a helpful explanation?

Or does it not matter at all (+ why) ?

I don't think it really matters where it goes but at school we've always put the standard in the conical. It's because you already know the concentration of the standard and if you put it in the conical then you'll know the volume depending on what size pipette you use. Then you can titrate and find out the volume of the unknown solution in the burette. I don't think it matters because the ending calculation will be pretty much the same.

it doesn't matter at all
it could be in the conical flask or the burette
though most schools tend to have the primary standard in the conical flask along with a few drops of the suitable indicator
