While globalisation works in Wall Street favor in the beginning, it may also spells its demise. Electronic networks is bypassing the Street's old houses.

China finds that it could just as easily raise money in Hong Kong. China has one of the largest saving rates in the world. It is not inconceivable that in the near future the USA equity market will raise its capital in China.

The next big development in China to watch is the derivatives market.

depends on the lengths it's willing to take to stand alone... it's quite hard these days with globalisation and all.. then again everything is made in china and would affect the production process but on the other hand there still is india out there for production..

No country can stand entirely on its own. The closest would be Russia because they have their own oil supply and industries but they would still end up dirt poor.
