My question is as above

For example

Student A goes to a school with 6 people doing EXT.2 MATH
and came first
Student B goes to a school with 34 people doinf EXT.2 MATH
and came first

ALL six people in school A have similiar abilities and are all capable of getting 90+
Only some in school B are capable

DOES SIZE MATTER?

I mean, IF they both came first in their school and got the same marks in the HSC

i thought student A will have an advantage.. as everyone is good and there r only few people so there is noone to drag down marks
am i right in saying so?
But its unfair for Student B cus he came first and got the same mark as A
but he has people who may drag it down

So, would the NUMBER OF STUDENTS DOING THE SAME COURSE AT ONE SCHOOL be considered?

beating 5?
or beating 33?
matter at all?

Sorry this may sound silly
but wanted to know
and if this has been posted somewhere before please let mme know kindly or put a link for me so i can read it

thanks

so then it would be better if ur school has smaller sizes..
with capable students.. it is easier to beat people and there is not many who may drag you down
than a school with heaps of people doing the same thing with different abilities

but yeah okay thanks

What happens if
Students

Int. RANK

A-1
B-2
C-3
D-4
E-5

Ext. MARK

D- 95
C-88
B-82
E-81
A-75

due to whatever reasons

would A get 85?

what happens if this happens on a larger scale with heaps of marks difference?
i mean, the top people fully bomb out
while the bottom people do really well
it usually doesnt happen but what if?
the same thing occurs as usual?

class size doesn't matter , although if u hav more people doing a course it is safer for you, the risk isn't as high although it does not mean that you will do better.

this is written on many websites about how uai and hsc tings are calculated. still if you do exceptionally well or exceptionally badly compared to the rest of the candidates from your skl then you will be counted as an outlier and excluded from the schools overall scaling. thus those who do uber rubbish cannot bring everyone down and equally those who pwn will not help everyone

it doesn't matter either way. BUT in saying that, if you're class is smaller, you have a longer way to fall had you done well for int. assessments but shit for ext. exam, cos the S.D could/would be larger.
