Does IPT scale well? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys I'm just a bit concerned/worried about the scaling factor for IPT for the 2008 HSC. Out all of my subjects (adv english, pdhpe, business studies, ipt and maths) I am most concerned about the scaling factor for IPT.

I want to get 90+ for my UAI. What score do I need to get for IPT to be scaled up enough to reach my target?

I wouldn't care about scaling, if you perform excellently why would you worry?
Study what you like!
I've chosen IPT and I regret it I'll have to deal with it but at least I'm positioned up the top of the class.

Like the guy above said as long as you get 85+ in IPT you'll scale fine.

I'd be more worried about scaling in pdhpe.

i herd pdhpe had pretty good scaling tho? My mates did it and they said it scaled fine, they got around 80 for pdhpe.

It entirely depends on how well your classmates do in the subject.
Subjects like Physics scale pretty well because they have better students, whereas a SDD teacher told the SDD class it scales down because "dummies" pick it.

IPT scales really terribly.
I did it in '08 (accelerated coure)- came 3rd in my year (North Sydney Girls) and got a 93.

My mark scaled down to 85, even though it was in the 99th percentile.

i'm not sure how you no you got 93 and it scaled down to 85 but from my experience as long as you do well it scales reasonably well. i dont think it scales down any way, it might align down when contributing to your uai but still if you get a good mark it will make a good contribution.

93 is not 99th percentile. I got 93 exam and 90 assessment with final mark of 92. IPT doesn't scale too well either way though.
Wtf gege, I was rank 18/33. If 93 was 3rd... that's a bit wth.

i got a band 6 in IPT and it didn't count to my uai

if you're expecting good marks in your other subjects, then don't bother with ipt

also, i think you people are getting mixed up between scaling (uac using your hsc marks to give a uai) and moderating (bos adjusting your hsc assessment mark based on the hsc exam performance of you and your classmates)
