Does VA even have a syllabus? (1 Viewer)

Our schools just done some Renaissance artists/ looking at techniques and some historical context........is that what other people are doing? like will the HSC exam actually even have a specific topic/option you choose to write a long response on, or is it just gonna be 100% analysing random works we've never seen before?

Well, there might be a work that you've seen before or studied before if you are lucky, however, you are basically spot on-every single school do different case studies for year 12. VA does have a syllabus, you can check it out on board of studies website but it is an overview of the VA course, there's not prescribed artists or artwork. Hope this helps However the skills you have developed in analysing artworks will apply to all artworks-regardless of whether they are 'unseen'-so practice, practice, practice, and you will be able to maximise your marks in the short answers response section

Your teacher elects to do different case studies, which I think there is a minimum of 4-5 to study a year. We did artists as social commentators, cementing our knowledge on conceptual framework.

No the HSC exam doesn't have specific topics or options to be tested on, but rather look at your analysis skills on random artworks. You can use the stuff studied in class for your long response essays (i.e. the 25-markers) at the end.
