I'm gonna crash out so bad.....I just did my first standard 2 math asessment on finance and got it back in a day, only to be bombarded with the most diabolical mark ever....

I got 78% which was my class average (the cohort one is probably gonna be around 50-60%) but i'm scared on how its gonna affect my ATAR or wtv since its 10% of our Internal marks......

am i cooked?

that's not even bad. And also 10% of ur internals is nothing. Like u have so much room to improve. And plus ranks are more important so if ur cohort average is around 50-60% u should be fine. Also getting it back one day after is rough. The fastest I got math back was 5 days which was my year 10 yearly

omg dont worry i flopped one of my first internal assessments too!! i was panicking at first but the weighting is literally nothing and what's happened has happened so all that there really is to do it learn from your mistakes so next assessment you can move up in the ranks. 😊

Ok please don’t worry about it. I’m serious. AT 1 is nothing when you review your marks at the end of the year.

I did really well in my first internal for maths ext 2 and for every subsequent assessment my marks went down. You’d rather not burn out in term 1 than doing what I did - pretty much burnt out term 2 onwards.

Don't worry about it too much. Whilst it would've been good to score high, you haven't seen your paper yet and it was only 10%. Of course it sucks to get average, but you have to remember to use this a an opportunity to learn and grow from. I know what this is like from experience. I got 70% and 75% for my first two physics exams and was ranked 10th after half-yearlies. I had to learn from these mistakes and ended up getting 91% for trials and hopefully even better for HSC. I finished 2nd overall jumping from 10th.

The most important thing is to find what you did wrong and make sure you don't ever make those same mistakes again. Yr 12 is a very long year and you will have ups and downs. The people above you will make mistakes as well. You just have to stay consistent and keep pushing. You'll be fine. :)
