essentially the title - im in year 12, on 12 units and i want to drop economics because i have no interest in the subject, a career related to the subject and i hate hate hate studying for it so i put very minimal work into the subject

however my marks are surprisingly really good for me not putting in effort and im ranked like 2/40 in my grade in a top 20 selective school

should i drop it to make more time for my other subjects (eng adv, maths ext 2, maths ext 1, chem and phys?) which i have lower ranks/grades in?

Do you want a high ATAR? Because if so, you'd want to maximise your marks, which means taking the subjects that you can get the best marks in. If you can do that in eco, it might be worth keeping it, especially since you say that you don't even put that much time into it and get good results. In that case, dropping a different subject out of the other 5 (probably the one you're getting the lowest marks/ranks in) would free up more time and increase your average marks so far. However, if you think you were just lucky for the last few tasks in eco and won't be able to maintain your rank, then you can consider dropping

This is just my take, you can do as you wish

If it isn't taking that much time then it may be worth keeping since it can act as a safety net. But if you feel stressed on time and its because you have more than you can do then yeah drop it, you'd still do well. basically, if you are really stressed on time, then yeah js do it because it's one less thing to think about. if not, then just keep it because u are already this far and doing well
