A POLISH mother who was intoxicated during labour has given birth to a baby girl who was almost 15 times over the adult drink-driving limit.
Doctors at a hospital in Otwock, on the outskirts of Warsaw, called in the police after the clearly drunk expectant mother checked in to give birth yesterday.

"A blood test showed that the 38-year-old woman had a level of 1.2 grams of alcohol at the time of birth," said police spokeswoman Dorota Tietz.
Maybe she just needed a drink to calm her nerves..

Mothers who drink during pregnancy are a lame excuse for a life.

Maybe the baby was drunk from the mum's fluids, NOT the alcohol. He may have drunk some of her fluids. Anyone thought of that?

Maybe the baby had a drink of his mum's fluids and got drunk from that?

Wait, you're saying mothers provide a natural alcoholic breverage? I didn't know mother's milk had such a high alcohol content!

NOO!! You know how mums have all those liquids in their stomachs where the baby stays, they may be alcoholic or a little bit tipsy-making. Don't you think?

Are you fucking dumb? Babies don't open their mouths/start breathing and eating until they are born. The alcohol would have transfered from the mothers blood to the babies via the placenta/umbilical cord.

Well technically yes they do start eating whilst in the womb. It's not uncommon for a fetus to swallow the amniotic fluid (and pee it out again) and it's cool to watch on an ultra sound.

Also the fetus's blood supply and the blood supply of the mother is separate, so it'd come entirely from the umbilical cord.

But no, drinking the amniotic fluid would not make the baby intoxicated unless the mother herself had consumed a large amount of alcohol.

While not breathing, I thought babies did open their mouths and practiced breathing/sucking their thumbs (later in development, of course)...

I think someone needs to read 'Where Did I Come From' again.
