I just wanna know why was the E value for the solution used instead of the E value for the other electrode? From what I know of the E total is the E value of both electrodes added together.

Platinum isn't on the activity series...so what would you have put ? There were 3 types of galvanic cells. One was as you know the two electrodes. Another is a platinum wire and the last one is gas being bubbled through the solution... I think you need to go over it again man
Cuz there's no Pt on the back of the standard potential, you use what's on the standard potential on that side of electrode, that's Fe in that case
