who knows where the formula E=VIt come from.


this is what i have.

The energy required to transport one volt of energy is calculated by the formula
Energy=V(olt)I(current)t(time in seconds)
This comes from the fact that:
q=It
And: W=qV
Therefore we can conclude that
W=VIt


is E= W??????

Well..

from the formula P=VI we know that Potenial difference is the work done on a charge (ie work/q) and current is the flow of charge per sec (ie q/t)

Sub the values in to the P=VI forumla.. u get

P=(W/Q) * (q/t) ---

when u solve this the q's cancel and u get

P= work/time
sub this formula in the original one (ie P=VI)
u get
Work/time= VI

another way of looking at it is; probably a more simpler way

a chage q moving through potentia difference of V does W given by
W=qV

q can be represented by q=It

sub the q value in W=qV
u get W=(It)V when rearranged gives

W=VIt

rearrange and u get W=VIt
