hi guys, I was wondering if uni entry is something hard to get into. I'm currently in year 11 and my prelims are starting next week. My grades atm before prelims were: B for English Adv, C for Ext Eng, C for standard maths, B for society and culture, B for investigating science, A for legal studies, and B for modern history. Would this be acceptable, I'm looking to go to uow, my course is only around a 70 atar.

It depends on the competition for the course and how many people actually apply for your course. But considering that the atar requirement is only 70 it would be highly doubted that there would be a lot of competition in comparison to something in medicine.

Considering this, I think that you would have a chance, but I'm not too sure, if you could specify exactly what course, I might be able to help more clearly?

Considering this, I believe you have a fair chance at getting the offer, since you got an A in legal studies, But just make sure you try and smash out prelims and keep the A you have while lifting your other grades to maximise your chances.

it's a signature, you can customise it however u want

to get one you gotta go to where it says ur username and has ur profile pic in the top right hand corner (next to the mail and bell icon), click on it, and then there should be an option that says 'signature' (below 'Reactions received'). click on it, customise ur signature, then save it! :biglaugh:

for the emojis, just click on the smiley face icon and pick one!!:chainsaw2::eek2::devil::guitar::love::shouting::pirate:

i want to do human services/something in sociology
If you want to do Sociology, you'll have to plan early on what you want to do with it. Sociology by itself is never going to give you the things you need to be employed. Are you planning to go to Academia? If so, where? Because every country has different guidelines and preferences regarding to PhD application. Keep in mind that in Academia your supervisor is the one that makes or breaks your experience. Focus on your grades and gain research experiences if you can.

Or are you going into community service as a practitioner? If so, you can do Social Work rather than Sociology. Or, you can do a few internship with your Sociology major. Doing it with Psychology/Psychological Science as a second major is also going to help. But just with a degree in Sociology by itself is not going to get you far.

Or are you going into the public service or government? I'm not sure about this path, but I think you'll need to check on things like the ANU internship or APS Graduate Programs.
