Effect of packing on melting point (1 Viewer)

ive been told that the order for melting points is
alkyne
alkene
alkane
and that this is due to packing, though this is contradictory to what ive learnt from tutoring and other textbooks so could someone explain why this is so. i thought it was
alkyne
alkane
alkene
