Emma/Clueless Social classes (1 Viewer)

Hey!
I got given this assessment task to do and I need some help.
Here's the question:-
"The film is honest about th existence of social classes as is teh Austen text."
Discuss the importance of the class concept in both texts and the ways in whic they represent the respective values of each society.

I was just wondering if anybody had any notes relating to this? Or if anyone has any ideas that would be much appreciated.

me taking a guess:

"The film is honest about th existence of social classes as is teh Austen text." - both use satire, irony, humour, characterisation to show that the systems r rigid and in place, despite Clueless's context is supposely egalitarian. use quotes from emma (eg. "the yeomanry class is the very order of people i feel i can have nothing to do with" etc.)

importance of class context and society's value:
- limited interactions
- the need for same class to date/marriage
- poor depend on rich (miss bates)
- lower class looked down by higher class
- emma's context values breed, while clueless, mel is self-made wealthy

that is all i can come up atm. @_@

Thanks for that information. I went shopping at on the weekend so i got the excel book "Emma and Clueless". So hopefully that should be pretty helpful. I saw that u're doing advanced english as well. Are u doing this text or what text are you doing?

Well, I got my stupid assignmnet done. LOL! Now just one more do to. And then I have to study for my exams which are coming up.

I was just wondering how do I change my name below my pic to something else. At the moment it says "New Member".

I do extension maths as well but thats enough for me. I couldn't do extension 2. LOL!

Do you watch the NRL footy?
