On SOLS, the only subjects I have tutorial enrolment info on are the arts ones (none of them have opened yet). I have no info on commerce subjects ie. mgmt110 and mark101. I saw someone else write that they had already enrolled in commerce tutorials.

Have I missed out on these tutorials (I know I haven't missed out but have I missed out on first preference) or is it possible they're still not open?

Help!

Thanks.

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting your first preference?

Yay for first come first serve! :D!

For some subjects, all one needs to do is camp on their computer until tutorial enrollment opens and quickly choose the one for them. That way you've got your preference. :)

Some Mathematics subjects are randomly given. If a student can't fit that time into their timetable, due to work committments or clashes, they inform the personspecified on the subject outline with reasons why they cannot attend that particular tutorial, and a list of good tutorials.

Some subjects use TPS (Tutorial Preference System). It isn't first come first serve, so it can be seen as a little fairer by some.

Also, some subjects just have a piece of paper in the first lecture with the tutorial times on it. A person adds their name in the list corresponding to the desired tutorial time.

If a subject has tutorials/labs/seminars/whatever, and there are no online methods of enrolling, don't fret. You could contact the lecturer, or just wait until the first lecture. However, if there was a system in place and you wait til the first lecture, chances are if it's first come first serve, you won't get a popular slot.

Well does anyone know when we find out what tutorial time we got if using TPS? This would seem like slightly essential information when choosing other tutorial times for other subjects - which begins tonight.

Stupid uow.

I'm doing MGMG110 and MARK101. Tutorials are based on a preference system which opened on Monday and closes on Thursday.

For some reason you can't get to the tutorial preferences page through SOLS so you are going to want to go to http://www.uow.edu.au/student/tps/index.html and click on the TPS Tutorial Preference System link under Faculty of Commerce.

And you will find out what preferences you got at 4pm on Friday.

And I agree that it is really stupid that you don't know what preferences you get for a week after you put them in. Because all my subjects are Faculty of Commerce this session all my tutorials are based on preferences and a lot of them overlap. So depending on which tutorial I get for certain subjects I might want to change one from another subject. I would prefer first in first serve tutorial enrolment.

I'm only doing MGMT110 this semester and I'm glad someone agree's with the stupidity of TPS. First come, first served is heaps easier. See, I think I was just the first person to enrol in a engl120 tutorial and all I had to do was camp out on the computer for 5 minutes to get my first preference.

I bet you this TPS thing started because of complaints. Well damn those complainers. Damn them to hell.

I'm going to be really annoyed if I get a shit tutorial time because of the stupid preference system because I was on the computer 10 minutes after tutorial enrolment started.

The tutorial time for MATH121 is up. The enrolment time will commence on 21/2. But there are something very strange:

Name First Day to Enrol Last Day to Enrol
T1 21-FEB-2005 00:00 21-FEB-2005 00:00
T2 21-FEB-2005 00:00 21-FEB-2005 00:00

Virtually it is impossible to enrol for those 2 tutorials.

If it's anything like last year, then you're given tutorial times. You don't enrol for them.

The rest tutorial of MATH121 can be enrolled between 21/2-25/2
T3 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59
T4 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59
T5 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59
T6 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59
T7 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59
T8 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59
T9 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59
T10 21-FEB-2005 23:59 25-FEB-2005 23:59

Are T1 and T2 already assign to other students, because my timetable does not have MATH121 tutorial on it.

the first come first served system was good in that most people who camped on their computers got their 1st choices...but the system always overloaded and the only ones that benefited were the turds with megawowawesome broadband...!

I disagree. I camped on my computer for Autumn and Spring tutorials last year with dialup and was able to get my chosen sessions. I hardly think dialup is magawowawesome. :) This year I was blessed with ADSL but in my opinion, it didn't make any difference.

Not that I know of. I checked last night. Lucky you. :(

It does make a difffernce poloktim. I got all my preferences as well. But your would take 2 mins whilst mine would take the whole night, and in some instances, a few days....:(
