For part (i) of course you would find gradient of AP and gradient of AS and just prove the product is -1 but would you be allowed to just write down the tangent equation (to find coordinates of A) without deriving it, and just state its from reference sheet or something? This would save a little time but would the markers allow it?

When I sat it I just wrote down the equation. You are allowed to unless they tell you to derive it as far as I know.

The equation of the tangent is in the reference sheet. Therefore you are allowed to quote it.
