Can you focus on just one text (in my case it would be a novel) or is it better to do a comparative study of two?

Whatever you want (it also doesn't have to be on a 'text' - it can be on a genre, a trope or something else like that). I focussed on one novel (but with one text, you've got to make sure it's a deep analysis).
