i play the piano
and i was wondering what everyone played as their extension music repertoire..
i heard they have to be contrasting pieces but do they have to be from different time periods????
like can i play two pieces from the same time period but like different styles???
im thinking of playing

albeniz - el puerto
schubert - fantasie in f minor for four hands

and i wanted to play a chopin etude
but am i allowed to do that????

Hi there,

I played Rachmaninov Tarantella (2 piano work), Malaguena by Lecuona and Chopin Nocturne Op 72 No 2.
You don't necessarily have to have one from each period, but they should definitely differ in style.

I think the two you have chosen are great, and a Chopin etude would fit in nicely (and also be a good way of showing off your skill to the markers!)
Have you run your choices by your school teacher?

Cheers,
Anastasia
