Hi everyone,

I am suspicious myself about the way I was studying. Actually, I don't know I should follow the syllabus or extra study.
Learning at school is enough to have a high score at HSC?

Is coaching necessary?

I think this is a difficult question to answer. But I think coaching helps with one's confidence-particularly as sometimes in public schools students don't get enough support/time/feedback from teachers and coaching can be just the extra bit of support and give more feedback to give you more motivation and assistance as you learn. I think coaching is a good way to guide you to ways by which you can follow the syllabus or do extra study, particularly if you are someone who easily lose motivation/distracted or need some discipline with external help.

So coaching is not necessary for high marks in HSC, but it can be helpful depending on what sort of learner and how you prefer learning.
