If I fail one subject (2 units) for my HSC but the rest of my subjects (8 units) I am getting 80 - 90%
in my exams, how would it affect my atar?
:cold:

Okay, so right now I'm at the end of my prelim years,
These are my subjects

2U maths
Standard english
Biology
Economics
Chemistry
Physics

However, I am failing TWO subjects in my prelims, physics and chemistry.

Well for physics, my overall mark was 63/100 for half yearly, but throughout the year
I failed 2 theory exams term 1 and yearly, but did well for the practical exam and research.
AND
Chemistry, same story with physics, but we only had 3 exams throughout the year, I did well
in the term 2 exam, scored 83% but failed my term 1 and yearly exam.

Plus, which subject is worse, physics or chemistry in year 12?

if you screw up 2 units of a total of 10 it'll affect your atar by quite abit :/
and they're really close but chemistry's slightly better

Failing 2 units when you only have 10 will get you into a bit of trouble for sure when it comes to your ATAR. If you are really struggling with both Physics and Chemistry and aren't confident with them going into the HSC I would drop both and pick up Senior Science, which you'll do well in after doing all three sciences.

Physics is definitely worse from what I hear.
