Hey all, I've been just really worried about my performance this year as a whole. I've been getting not so great marks/ranks on my subjects, esp. English/Biology and Economics. I'm too anxious for my prelims right now since I only pretty much have a week and a half to study for it and I just feel too behind and I feel like I'll be just scraping A's or simply getting B's again for the subject that I struggle with. So I'm wondering if my performance in Y11 will reflect my performance in Y12 and that it'll be too late for me to aim for a high atar like 99 if I picked up my studying right now.

Dw prelims doesn’t count towards anything except early entry which isn’t too hard to get. Plus u can always lock in extra hard for year 12. Just don’t stress and try ur best. If it makes u feel better I haven’t reallystarted studying either

i dont know where you got the idea that your marks in year 11 reflect your performance in year 12, but that is literally as far from the truth as it gets. it is very easy to believe this, but you need to remember that if you study, by year 12, your study skills will have been finessed and you will understand how to better perform IF you apply all the lessons that you have learnt over the course of year 11.
so please don't stress - prelims geniunely count for nothing and you have no reason to be overtly stressed. just do the best you can, and more importantly, try to learn from your mistakes in prelims and year 11 as a whole. again, there is NO way year 11 affects year 12 in terms of marks and atar. don't overthink it

I agree with everything study and 99.95dreams said, but just wanted to leave a note that I do all of those 3 subjects you mentioned, so if you're in need of any advice or have questions, I can help :caffeine:

Thanks for the offer, I'm struggling with English the most since I find it pretty hard to improve... many teachers tell me to stop memorising essay, but I usually end up receiving 16/20 at most if I try very hard. When I actually did memorise the essay, only then I could barely scrape an A lolol. I'm just pretty lost on how to study for it rn. If I do some practise essays I don't really have anyone to mark them for me so I'm not sure if I'm doing a good job or not 🫠
