I was just wondering if anyone out there can help me. I am doing an assessment on fibre, yarn and fabric properties and am stuck on this question:

Explain the interrelationship between the fabric, yarn and fibre properties.

My fabric is Cathedral Satin, it has a multifilament yarn and a polyester fibre.

Also does anyone know what fabric finishes would be used on this fabric?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you would talk about the properties of the multifilament yarn and polyester fibre
and how they add to the properties of the fabric
and if a weakness of one is someway balanced by another property.

dont forget to talk about the properties of satin weave
and what that does to the overall fabric properties.

for fabric finishes i suggest just going through ur textbook and seeing which ones are appropriate
it would depend on what you are making though
but because it is a man made fibre there is a finish that they use (sorry i can't remember the name)
u would have ones such as permenant press, mildew resistant or soil(satin can be used in things like wedding dresses which are stored), just think of the uses for the fabric then look through the finishes.

Thanks so much for that, it is such a help. I have also managed to find another textbook that actually spells everything out in plain english for a change.
