that doesnt really loook like general maths but I wouldnt know.. i only just started the course this year but i'll attempt the question.

f(x)= x^2-3, and g(x) = 5x

(fg)(x)= 5x(x^2 - 3)
= 5x^3 - 15x

[ edit ] oh wait i only jst read the question again.

This is definitely NOT part of the general maths course, and probably more likely to be found in the 3u or 4u courses.

If f(x) = x2 – 3 and g(x) = 5x, then:

f.g(x) = f[g(x)]
= f(5x)
= (5x)2 – 3
= 25x2 – 3
