Finding Arg and Mod Using your Casio Calculator (1 Viewer)

Well I know many of you might not know this, but it seems pretty helpful and I wish i knew this b4 the hsc =]

so anyways when you are thrown at some retarded question saying find mod and argument

no matter how ugly it gets you calculator will find it =]

we know that if z=x+iy

then mod= square root of x^2 +y^2 and arg = tan^-1 y/x

but STOP, if you pay attention at your gay calculatorss


try to notice a sign called Pol its located undearneath the x button.

press shift and pol

the calculator will display Pol( )

see those put in your x coordinate such as 1 and then put comma which is loacted on the closed bracket, make sure you press shift closed bracket and then put in your y coordinate and then close the bracket


R= mod and theta = arguemnt good luck and hope this will be usefull in finding arg and mod faster =]

that doesnt give exact values though does it? so won't always work i guess

Typing this in gives the modulus. Use the recall button to get the argument. Do it in degrees otherwise you get ugly numbers since there are usually multiples of pi in the angle.

the cool thing about those calculators is that you can sometimes then divide the result by Pi and then depending ... it will give you the result in exact terms in terms of Pi

Conversely, you can use the Rec() function to put change it back.
