Finding internships as an international student (1 Viewer)

hi
i'm new to the forum.

Are there many international students in this forum studying electrical engineering?
Was it easy for you guys to find internships/work experience?
I'm finding this to be pretty difficult because most companies like integral energy dont hire international students(without australian citizenship or PR) as interns.

I saw this problem with a few friends (not in EE)

Had a friend (HK citizen studying in Perth) apply for an investment banking job in Australia but they redirected his application to the HK branch which shot him down straight away.

Might just be a hard time for internships - we had a guy at UWA on a 90 average get turned down for all his offers.
