apparel is just like clothing. dresses, shirts, pants etc. furnishings is like what the name implies - furniture and cushions and stuff. costume is easy. costume for plays and movies but also a period costume from say 17th century perhaps. textile arts is clothing but that has a message. its not exactly a convential outfit that one would wear, but it displays a message and some form of clothing.
i'm not sure about non apparel because our teacher only briefly explained each bit and didn't explain this one because no one wanted to do it. everyone had their mind set on art or apparel.
