Especially those that excel in Maths but did alright in your other subjects, what UAI did you get?
Would you also say that Maths Ext 2 can save your ass when you get like band 4s with your other subjects?

I think it helped pull my UAI but i got band 6's in all my other subjects anyway. I wouldn't rely on it, its a lot of maths if you dont like it. You might be better off spending some of that time concentrating on your other subjects and improve them. Good luck

MX2: 92
MX1: 97
Adv Eng: 90
Chem: 78
Software: 82

UAI: 96.35

So the answer is: Yes.

Although my English mark was fairly high, so you'd be looking at a UAI more around the low 90's if you got 3 band 4's instead of 2 like I did (well, 82 in software is not too good).

Yeah I think I might end up with results like that at the end of the year cause i m not that spectacular in any other subject except maths, might have a chance in biology.

i got 90 in ext 2 maths, 96 in ext 1 maths, 96 in music 1, 93 in bio, 82 in chem and 82 in eng. (chem didnt count for my uai). To find out my UAI, see my sig. If you can't figure it out, then i suggest NOT doing 4unit.

Maths ext 2 is a lot of work, and has concepts that may be difficult to grasp if you're not good at maths. What do u mean by 'save your ass'? what uai are u looking at?

Save my ass means getting a UAI of 95 and above. I would like a UAI of 99.80 but it seems pretty much out of my reach. 95 is sufficient, 90 is alright but any thing lower is just trash to me.

EDIT : your sig says target but i assume you got that

uai of 95+ is quite possible, but with band 4s in other subjs, you cant hope to get 99.80.

My sig says target 99, but i missed out by 0.75, so i got 98.25.

4unit - 93
3unit - 97
software - 93
eng adv - 85
german - 88

uai - 98.05

don't do 4unit because you want a good uai. If you suck at maths / put no work into it, you're going to get a shit uai regardless of whether you do a particular subject or not.

I got 91 in X2 (somehow, kind of miracle...) but my other subjects are in band 6s and 1 band 5 which didn't count towards my UAI...I ended up with 99.85...I can not give fair judgement based on my case

One of my friend didn't do X2 but she excelled other subjects she truly liked and she ended with 99.50...

Several of other friends did X2, achieving high 80s and got UAI>90, some>95 though their others are in band 5s and band 4s..

But yeah, think that good X2 can boost ur UAI up...

I am so glad I didn't do Maths X2... everyone was saying I should've done it.

Screw that!

imo, too much maths = bad

But if you're good at it, go for it!

I'm glad I did, it's what I relied on throughout the year to get a semi-okay UAI.
Ext1 94, Ext2 90, IPT 86 (however VERY low scaling), AdvEng 81, Chem 79, SOR1 34. UAI 93.65.
By the end of the HSC exams I thought I went so poor in every exam and came out feeling as though I fucked up every single one so I expected ~85 UAI.

4U maths boosts your mark up to awesomeness if you're a maths nerd like me. If you suck at english and want to get over 99 uai its almost essential: MX2:98 MX1:99 chem:93 phys:96 Eng adv:82 UAI:99.45
