Aussie cars gotta battle it out but most reviews are one sided and for a good reason.
read MOTOR September 2005 issue.Murf said:You got to think to yourself, if your buying a large car, especially australian made, your going to pay a lot in fuel (generally) and people who buy them realise this. This especially relates to those who buy HSV/FPV these people dont buy 6.0L V8's to be economical, they buy them for what they do and pay the fuel beacuse they like the car for what it is. It annoys me when in car mags they chose say FPV over HSV or the other way around when the only thing in it is one or two L per 100kms of fuel usage.
I really dont think that fuel consumption is what people buy Holden over Ford, or Ford over holden for its beacuse the overall car, especially not FPV HSV buyers.

How ironic that the two SBR cars are leading the V8SC Championship 1-2, however under your philosophy they are "fucked". Makes me wonder how bad the Commonwhores are...waddle_828 said:another acronym for ford, even though i voted for them: F**KED on race day...

well the people who made that drew an oval, not a circleMurf said:
For fuck sake, the journos AREN'T biased! They have no reason to be! Just because they are comparing one car with another - Ford/Holden, BMW/Mercedes, Toyota/Nissan, whatever - doesn't mean that they are biased to one of the cars in question! The journos can't even name a clear winner nowadays otherwise they'll be labelled as 'biased' by people like you - if the Holden is the better car and they say so, the Ford fans all jump up in arms and criticise them for being "biased" - it's the same picture if the Ford is the better drive and they say so, the Holden pack all stamp their footsies in disbelief. And most - if not all - haven't even driven both to make a comparison, let alone a fair comparison.transcendent said:read MOTOR September 2005 issue.
the Fords lose power mid-corner consistently. i generally scan over the whole Ford vs Holden articles cause i feel they're generally biased towards one or the other. if i were to get a Ford i'd get the new Focus Hatch or the XR6 Turbo. if i were to get the Holden i'd get the Astra Classic or the Holden Commodore SS before grille revisal.
No worries mate. It's just that I know all the guys at MOTOR, and how much of this shit they get - all the dozens of angry emails from the respective fans. I'm looking at being a motoring writer as well - aiming to be the editor of MOTOR before I turn 26 (trying to beat current record held my current Ed, Jesse Taylor), and will be thrown into that little specialised area as early as next year - dealing with accusations of prejudice is easy, but just annoying when you get so many of them.Murf said:lol dont be a smartass
SlipStream - no need to get worked up about it....people are entitled to their opinions, getting worked up and swaring wont help it will simply result in the topics being closed and the forum being taken away. After all we're all just having a bit of fun.

meh, for something like Wheels i believe their articles but MOTOR's comparison runs Ford to the ground when Wheel's one show that they win some of the reviews. i'm a fence sitter so i'll take the review articles to be truth. doesn't mean i'll always trust them cause different car magazines have different reviews on which ones are the winner. so how do you tell?SlipStream said:For fuck sake, the journos AREN'T biased! So please, get off the journos' backs.
well thats because the v8 supercars share nothing in common with the road cars, and thanks to Project Blue Print it has made ford equal if not better to holdens. i still think they should of held of PBP for a year to see how the BA comapreds to the VY, then they should introduce it if it is still holden dominated. you cant compare race cars to road cars, they are too diffrent.SlipStream said:How ironic that the two SBR cars are leading the V8SC Championship 1-2, however under your philosophy they are "fucked". Motoring journalism is based on preference of the person who is writing the article. i.e. they may like one car better than the other. That's why in one magazine they could say the Falcon is better, and in the other the Commodore is better. It's simply that each writer has a different preference to the cars they have tested. How do you tell? You tell by who is the most experienced tester. An article from someone of the calibre of Peter Robinson is incomparable to some editorial guy who drove both cars and picked the one with the most cupholders.transcendent said:meh, for something like Wheels i believe their articles but MOTOR's comparison runs Ford to the ground when Wheel's one show that they win some of the reviews. i'm a fence sitter so i'll take the review articles to be truth. doesn't mean i'll always trust them cause different car magazines have different reviews on which ones are the winner. so how do you tell?
The V8 Supercars share their basic chassis with the road cars. That's it. I'd agree with you if they were spaceframe, but they're not. They're not even semi-spaceframe, they're a complete road car tub with a berko roll cage.shortygb said:well thats because the v8 supercars share nothing in common with the road cars, and thanks to Project Blue Print it has made ford equal if not better to holdens. i still think they should of held of PBP for a year to see how the BA comapreds to the VY, then they should introduce it if it is still holden dominated. you cant compare race cars to road cars, they are too diffrent.
i would probably buy the xr8, but totally agree with your other cars...transcendent said:read MOTOR September 2005 issue.
