At the MANSW conference this year an ACARA representative did something she was not supposed to and revealed some content in the updated national senior syllabus before it is officially released next year.

This included Formal Logic.

The Schaum Outline book on Formal Logic is an excellent place to start and is available online at http://www.amazon.com/Schaums-Outline-Logic-Second/dp/0071755462

And we will have to learn to use these symbols: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_logic_symbols (if you don't already)

This sounds like an excellent addition to the syllabus if you ask me.

Furthemore, we will have to get used to the idea of proof by contradiction, contrapositive arguments, etc.

Does this concern to the 2012 4U students?

Is there any actual source revealing this information in regards to Formal Logic?

It was revealed at the conference that the plan is to release the documents next year. Just ask any maths teacher who attended it on the second day.

Oh good, so MATH1081 won't be the first time I see these things...

They're not that bad, seriously. We learnt pretty much all of them in like... two lectures. Not that hard of a topic.

I've seen some of the stuff like that, doesn't seem too bad, they seem pretty interesting too

tbh i want to learn the notation btw. not only will it impress the marker but it will also help wif the layout of the working as sentences of explanation will no longer be necessary
