Did yall have ur french trial yet?If not when is yours? I just had mine today and it was relatively easy...the hardest question was the comprehension q which asked to show how language reveals the point of view...but other than that...

Yeah the comprehension/Reading and Responding questions bit is always a bastard... argh. What's with all the comment on the language/tone/expression questions? It's English all over again!!! I had mine about two weeks ago.

Do NAFT make trial papers? (Considering the title of the thread). If so I didn't know they did... interesting.

The writing was pretty interesting, I did the "Why my school is great" speech and the diary entry about disagreeing with a teacher. I loved being able to write "I hate English/chem" over and over again.

I couldn't pick up a third reason why animals are so smart (in the listening section) though.

Oh gawd heheh, did they at least let you disagree with that hypothesis? :D At least it's something accessible to talk about... :D

wait a minute, did this NAFT trial have a weird reading/responding part B task where you had to write about how Australians keep in shape in summer?

Anyways what i wanted to know was, what is the meanig of "conte" or something like that which guinea pigs apparently do.

and what did the ants do? I missed that as well, so I made up some crap about their ability to wor/communicae with each other. Oh yeah and hens can recognise other hens in photos right?

Now I'm scared... Why is it that they always make up bizarre scenarios?!?!?

Couldn't they for once choose something remotely relevant to everyday life or similar....

Who gives a toss about Guinea Pigs!

Mind you, knowing my school and its strange approach to languages, my exam will be completely different from anyone else's......

Hippy's day of hideous examinations

HAHAHHHA! Guess What! I had this exact same paper today. And now I can totally empathise with you on the whole animal question. Fuck that was lame. I missed the ants, the pigeons, the chimpanzee and only managed the birds and hens part.....

But I asked my teacher after the exam was over what they all did and the guinea pigs apparently could count. SO that would tie in with what Shazzam was saying about ....

what is the meanig of "conte" or something like that which guinea pigs apparently do.
'compter' ....ahh... Don't worry, I *so* did not recognise it in the exam....

Chimpanzees can laugh... Umm.. Hens recognise themselves in photos, but pigeons cannot recognise other pigeons. And the ants build villages and roads....

So yes. Not. Very. Good. I didn't pick up any of that......

But the rest was fairly understandable (I say this now, but once I get my exam back it could be a very different scenario ;) )

Oral exam was today too.

Absolutely hideous. I hate the way I subconsciously slip into english.
But then again, my teacher was subconsciously slipping into Japanese.... Really bizarre.

Nothing I didn't understand but question-wise but, I frequently fumbled over silly verb conjugations thus forming staggered, incoherent sentences + derailing the intelligent, conversational facade. :(

All in all. Rather horrible. Can't say I'm looking forward to the real thing ('specially the oral!!)

Only Reading/Writing/Comprehension to go....!!!!

Finally completed the Comprehension/Reading/Responding exam today. Not too bad I thought. The questions I had were about a government program which helped parents with their children and travelling overseas. There was one question which, as Supra mentioned, was about how the language revealed a point of view. But it wasn't too difficult to answer. A helluva lot easier than answering an english exam question!

Writing was so-so. Nothing overly challenging. But I kept thinking that there had to be something more that they were looking for (I've been conditioned to think this way from too many english exams I think!). Kept re-reading the questions just to make sure I hadn't missed anything important, no implied messages and what not... Anyway...........................

It was quite bizarre sitting all by myself on one side of the hall, with the Chemistry students on the other side. I felt quite isolated.... *sulks*

Meh. I'm just glad the trials are allllll over.

Huh? So you didn't do the whole trial all in one day? Anyway you're lucky you didn't get the reality tv passage in the comprehension as there was some tricky stuff in it.

And you're the only one in your class? Bummer...

It was just split up into 'Reading/Writing' and 'Listening/Oral'. That's all.

Which is probably just as well, I think I'd freak out (and become exhausted) if everything was on the same day!

Yup. I felt like such a knob when the teachers screeched: "5 minutes to go French Continuers!" *teacher looks around hall* "Oh, there's only one of you" *teacher lowers tone of voice* "Oh. Well just remember 5 minutes left...."

The reality tv q wasnt too bad, neither was the parents one, ive done harder comprehensions...Before this trial i was seriously considering why i dropped business and kept french, i realise now that french is pretty cool, u dont veen need to study(as our teacher prepares us evry lesson) That stoopid animal q in listening still pisses me off, its all bloody wasted marks.

Lol @ hippy, i thought 7 was a small class...btw how long were each of ur exams...my one was normal reading/responding/writing=3h

btw wot did yall write for the language q (which was based on reality tv)

How long were my exams?

Ah.... Listening + Speaking was supposed to go for only 1 hour as she only had to test me. But I remember leaving school at 2:30 and my exam was at 1:00. So it must have gone for 1 1/2... The speaking component was only 10 minutes (Thank goodness! Any longer and I would've died!)

Reading/Writing was 2 1/2 hours + 5 minutes reading time.
Although on the paper it said "Students are allowed 2 hours and 50 minutes to complete this exam"... I dunno what happened to my other 20 minutes. Not that I needed it, but it did perplex me for a while. ;)

And yup, that animal question was baaaad. Possibly the worst question out of all the french exams, in my opinion.
