Im aiming for a high ATAR so 95+ even though I dont know what I want to do. Im good at the subjects I do but am terrible at Maths and am thinking about dropping to General or dropping it all together.

Does anyone know of people who got 95+ without Maths? Or does Maths help your ATAR?

I currently do 12 units so I could drop it, or should I just stick it out?

Thanks

If you're going bad, it wont count anyway, may as well drop it.

I hate maths too.

I do 11 units, none of which are maths. (Subjects are on my profile)
The estimate that I received from my deputy principal last week was mid 96.
Neither of the two girls in my grade who received perfect ATAR estimates do maths.

95+ without maths is possible. Just be passionate and sustained in your work for your remaining subjects :)

Someone from my school received 98.65 last year with Advanced English, Ancient History, Economics, History Extension, Legal Studies and SORI.

I'm pretty sure one of the all rounders we had received above 95 with Advanced English, English Extension 1, Drama, Modern History, Music 1 and SORI.

I think in 2008, a guy called Daniel Swain got a UAI of 100 with subjects like:

- 4 unit English
- Society + Culture
- Modern History
- Ext. History
- Comparative Literature

No science. No maths. 100 UAI...

Fact: If you get <90 in the HSC exam in general maths - YOU WILL BE SCALED DOWN

Yup. I thought there was Drama in there too but I'm not entirely sure.

Well unless the course you want to do in Uni needs Maths there's no point is there?

You're doing 12 units so if Maths is your worst then it wont count anyway so its just extra work.

And as someone said before General has bad scaling unless you go really good in it.
