what do you use to say i've finished?

i reckon "wan le" has connotations of "i'm done for" so i always use the first one.

hmm... i think i use "wan le" more often? coz i don't think it's common to say "hao le" in canto.

in mandarin, like when i've finished an exercise or something, i'll say "lao shi, wo zuo wan le"

same in cantonese - "ngor jou yuen la"

If someone asks you

ni zhunbei hao la ma? this means have you prepared well.

ni zhun bei wan la ma? this means have you finished your preperation.

I say 'hao le' when the 'project' is minor or casual.
I say 'wan le' when the 'project' takes extensive time or effort. More like 'wo de ma ye wo zhong yu gan wan le'
