I was wondering if anybody had read any of Leo Strauss's books (Natural Right and History, On Persecution and the Art of Writing, Liberalism Ancient & Modern, there are many more). If so, what did you think of them and his thought?

Also, has anyone read Voltaire's Bastards: The Dictatorship of Reason in the West? I am working my way through it....if anyone's read it (or is reading it) I'd be interested in discussing it...
for anyone who is curious, the book discusses the rise of technocrats (basically middle-management and administrators) and tries to explain how we would up with organisations like the Civil Service from Yes Minister, and the armies of World War I etc...thought provoking but not easy to read at first. The first 160 pages are the worst I think
