electron current is from negative to positive,
and conventional current is positive to negative,

a current in an electric circuit flows from negative to positive,

but why do you have to point the thumb in the direction of the conventional current (the right hand grip rule)?

shouldn't your thumb be pointing to the direction of the current which is negative to positive?

the "right hand grip" rule follows conventional current because you are using the movement of POSITIVE CHARGE

what do you mean by normal?
there is no normal
there is "actual" and "conventional"
actual is neg to pos
conventional is pos to neg

the rule is conventional, ie pos to neg

Just remember to use convential current when using those rules, which is opposite normal current. In theory you could use your left hand but then you have to remember too much.
