well you dont pay hecs yet, but teh census date is march 26, so if you dont pay hecs upfront, if you prefer paying upfront that is, of signed a form requestign hecs help loans, thant you are disenrolled. But you will ahve plenty of time, i think o nmysr its an electronic commonwealth assistance request now, so if you have done that and provided a TFN for that thna thats all well.

Hecs Help is for students who are australian citizens, i think NZ too? basically the government subsidises your tuition fees, so they pay a bit and yo upay a bit, while ticking whehter you'd like ot pay upfront or defer means you will pay your contribution [your oart of the fees] now or when you have a job that earns above a certain threshold and pay a % of oyur income.
its not too difficult really, read here http://www.goingtouni.gov.au/ it should provide you with more info..or hte BOS site, its has a quick summary and links to the ongtouni site specifically abotu it http://community.boredofstudies.org.../100890/guide-financial-costs-university.html

hope it helps
