I'm not sure which kind of assignment you're doing and which website you're looking up, but generally for assignments, the font should be Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced. (No, you don't tap the spacebar twice every time, go to Tools --> Paragrah --> Spacing).

Times New Roman or Arial size 12. I don`t have a header though; I just have a cover sheet (with the name of my work and my number). Do we need to include word counts?

No you don't need to include word counts but you can if you want.

You don't need a header either. It depends on your presentation,
bubz pretty much summed it up. :)
