I was just wondering if people mainly write about 3 main ideas for their essay or just two mains ideas??
I was told by my teacher this year to write 4 body paragraphs:
- paragraph 1 = set text (idea 1)
- paragraph 2 = set text + related text 1 (still idea 1)
- paragraph 3 = set text (idea 2)
- paragraph 4 = set text + related text 2 (still idea 2)

However, my teacher last year told me to do this:
- paragraph 1 = set text (idea 1), should be a little bit shorter than the other paragraphs
- paragraph 2 = set text + related text 1 (idea 2)
- paragraph 3 = set text + related text 2 (idea 3)

just curious what everyone else does :read:

If you can write more then definitely go for more. If you won't be able to finish it then stick with the smaller model.

3 points, one point per paragraph. One text per paragraph.

If you can adroitly combine texts in a single paragraph, go right ahead - but 95% of the time, your analysis will end up confused and murky, and the examiner will give up and just give you an average/less-than-mediocre score because they can't be arsed to make sense of your ramblings.

Do not just write more because you can - in fact, aim to be as concise as possible. Three points is the golden number (as explained in my book). The only exception would be Mod A where you have to directly compare and contrast two texts, in which I did four points (two pairs of complementary points).

I did the second option you mentioned, but it really depends on what the student is comfortable with doing. At my school, students did both the first and second option.

This is what my teacher taught me. In your these corporate two ideas such as family/culture/society/community/school then you write your essay like this:

Body Paragraph 1 - first idea for prescribed text.
Body Paragraph 2 - first idea for sup text 1.
Body Paragraph 3 - first idea for sup text 2.
Then repeat for second idea.
If you only have to use one sup text then just cut out body paragraph 3 for both ideas.

Hope this helps, PM if you have any questions :)
