How does all the scaling and moderation work for Modern History? (1 Viewer)

I go to a rank 80 school with about 60 peopled doing modern history

So basically everyone does really bad except a few people.
Modern is marked really harsh compared to other humanities and most people can't get above 20/25
For our trial exams, the range of marks was from 50%-70%

So how does all the scaling and moderation of marks come into fact for people doing modern history when the average is really low

How scaling works, is that the internal assessments (what your school sets) established peoples' ranks based on their marks and the spacings between people (so if the first person gets 80%, and the second person gets 75% this difference is the only thing that matters). When you guys sit the HSC exam, the marks you get in that are compared with the marks your school submitted for you and if on average all of you performed better in HSC then NESA will think your internal exams were hard and would scale your marks up. But, if all of you do worse externally they will scale your marks down. This a generalisation of course and there are cases where a different result occurs.
