What percentage of people get it?

Roughly 12-14% get a band 6 in advanced. Difficulty is fairly subjective and is dependent on the person really.

Since 2007, the number of advanced english band 6's increased from ~2500 - ~3600

It's not really a simple "how hard" type of thing. I think an E4 is easy for MX1 but not everyone gets one.

English is even harder to estimate how hard since it is so subjective. A teacher might say that your terrific response is 19/20 but another, 15/20 making it look easy or hard to score highly, respectively.
