how much study=how high UAI? (1 Viewer)

hey all!!!

i was just wondering how much study ppl did last year before the hsc, and the types of marks they got???

I've heard of ppl locking themselves up in their house all year or months b4 the hsc and getting heaps good marks...but wouldn't u fall apart after excessive study???

i've been doing at least 3 hours a day for the past 3 weeks and i've been going alright..mind u, i'm already getting sick of studying!!

How bout u guys?

The relationship is very simple:

let x be amount of study
let y be UAI
Start at (0,0)
Graph y = positive square root of kx
where k is a postive constant
there you have it

As far as I know, the curve applies to *everyone*, but the value of the constant depends on the individual eg the curve of person A may pass through (300 hours, 100 UAI) while for person B it may pass through (600 hours, 100 UAI)

As for me, there's an asymptote somewhere below UAI 100 cuz I screwed my english trials

Look, as much as it's good to study, also remember that you need to look after yourself, go for a walk or a run, hit golfballs down the local park, go to the beach, have a swim... fly a kite... do something.... it's good just to clear your mind and relieve a bit of stress.

As for studying.... 1 hour before each exam in the student carpark reading excel study guides listening to JJJ on the radio and eating breakfast... and I managed to walk out with 96.7... Study is good but just because you do 1 hour or 14 hours a day, it doesn't mean that you're marks will correspond with the effort put in.... knowing the stuff is the key, not the hours you put in, but with the odd exception, the more study you put in, the better your marks will be..... generally speaking of course.

v=final velocity
a=acceleration
t=time of flight...

yeah topped ancient history too.. her marks are in that 100 UAI thread Laz made,

i have to say i was a little disappointed, id expect more from 14 hours a day..

She lives next door to me (I think... I don't really know her. Though I heard she topped eco last year.)

i guess it depends on the person's learning ability, self IQ and concentration. The number of hours spent on studying may have pro or adversed effect. For example, it might have exhausted you already before your exams. On the other hand, it might give you an extra boost and helps to sustain information in your head.

of course, it also depends on how much you have absorbed in class. In my case, my teachers have strong influences in me.

If you pay attention in class and consolidate the work from time to time, you may score equally or even better marks than a person who does last minute 24hrs per day studying.
