Hi

I have a real big problem.

When the material is real boring or really elementary or presented in a real slow manner, my mind tends to shut down and i end up falling asleep.

I think its physiological.

Anything i can do to prevent me from falling asleep? Like herbs or vitamins?

Caffine, theres alot of caffine and sugar junkies at uni. Some people take ginko, fish-oil(omega 3), multivitamins for concentration and health, etc.

Also some people take caffine pills such no-doz to say awake for prolonged hours.

Sit at the front where the lecturer can see you. Perhaps that will provide a motivation to not sleep because you might get caught by the lecturer while drooling?

^Never worked for me.

Caffeine does though. Plus, if you're getting up early, lots of sleep does make a difference (how surprising eh?)

for me its not really related to the amount of sleep i get, even if i do get lots of sleep, for some reason, usually during mid-day or after a luch i get real sleepy.

i wish they had a place for a mid-day siesta :D

Oh, you can keep a chocolate bar with you, and just munch on it when you feel that you're getting sleepy.

*go to sleep ontime
* picture yourself as a homeless person - should be an incentive to do well.

Because if they think that they're homeless, they're going to want to do something to prevent that from happening... naturally, paying attention in lectures is one of those things lol :p

I'm sure you would enjoy lying in your own piss and shit while consuming VB long necks all day :)the though of it would make most people more attentive.

One of the things that helped me was a bottle of really cold coke next to my chair .. when I started to doze off I just took a few sips. Walk heaps in the breaks too if they have them.

Yeah, walk everywhere and get eaten by mosquitoes. The walk then develops into a brisk walk, then a jog, further into a run, finished off by a sprint.

Then you're back into the lecture theatre feeling so much more refreshed! :)
